Stock firmware was useless, this is running Arch Linux and Cherokee, Samba, minidlna, dhcpd and wifi. Boots and stores everything on an external WD 250gb usb drive. Only requires AC powet to run, which is fine with me, the Ford Flex has a 120vac outlet so we're good to go with that. Since it has built in wifi, we join the "Blackflex" wifi network from the iphone/ipod/kindle and fire up a upnp player, and off we go!
The iphones and ipods use Goodplayer and the kindles work with Skrita and Moboplayer or SoftMedia Player to stream the avi movies and mp3's while zooming down the road.
Now i just need to find a cheap big usb drive to supplement the 250.
